Meet our Chef
Bagatelle's contemporary French cuisine finds its roots on two continents, and Chef Matthieu Godard infuses his exceptional culinary background into every dish at Bagatelle Miami Beach.
Matthieu Godard serves as Executive Chef at Bagatelle Miami Beach and brings his unique flair and passion for cooking to the South Florida scene. Born in Normandy, France, Chef inherited his love for cooking from his grandmother who was the foundation of his culinary training and growing up on a farm Chef Matthieu’s natural inclination is towards farm-to-table style cuisine. Chef Matthieu began his career by happenstance at a young age, working in a kitchen in his native Normandy with a group of friends. While his friends eventually phased out of the restaurant industry, Chef found himself more enthralled in the culinary world. In 2006, Chef Matthieu moved to New York City and worked alongside world renowned Chef Daniel Boulud.
During his seven-year stint under Boulud, he was given the opportunity to work at the prestigious Michelin 3-star restaurant, Daniel. From there he moved to DB Bistro Moderne in New York before transferring to South Florida to helm the kitchen at the restaurant’s Miami location. When Bagatelle opened its Miami Beach in 2015, Chef Matthieu Godard was the natural choice to head the kitchen of the contemporary French Mediterranean restaurant. Now a staple in the scene, Chef Matthieu has developed innovative seasonal menus and continues to create memorable culinary moments for locals and visitors alike. When outside the kitchen, Chef Matthieu can be found staying active, exploring his Downtown Miami neighborhood and spending quality time with his wife.
